and being a first time author, not well versed in the non-writing tasks of publishing and marketing books I sought the help of my father, Bryan, who is an experienced and successful businessman. Together we discovered there is a massive amount of learning and work to be done aside from writing that must be completed before a book is entered into distribution for sale to the public.
Digging deeper, our research confirmed that the vast majority of self-publishing authors have very little experience, knowledge, time and money to invest in the non-writing necessities of publishing their book, getting it into the marketplace and promoting it. So, after spending in excess of $9,000 dollars and one year trying to work with a pay-up-front "indie publisher" who tried to position themselves to take a 14% cut of my royalties for the next 3 years, we said "enough is enough," and decided to self-publish my books. Next, we politely severed the relationship with the indie publisher, and shortly thereafter established Eluramance Media Inc., as a legally registered corporation. Our Purpose is to assist indie authors with the publishing, distribution, marketing, promotion and sales of their books in an inexpensive and easily affordable way. The Reality is that by yourself, completing all the tasks necessary to give you a chance of being a profitable author will take up all of your non-writing time and reduce your writing time by up to 70%. The Benefit of teaming up with Eluramance Media will be the near elimination of The Reality (above). Thus, enabling you to continue to write unabated. Sounds good, right? But, your thinking... First, what services do they provide? Second, how much does it cost? Third, how and when do I pay? First, Our Services: Manuscript Assessment/Editing Direction Your assigned editor reads your entire manuscript and produces a written evaluation that points out the good and the shortcomings, if any, of your manuscript and will suggest improvements if necessary. In addition the editor will ensure your text is – on a line-by-line basis – understandable, uniform, and accurate. Your editor will recommend solutions to problem areas and/or further editing services (only if absolutely necessary) that will have a direct impact on making your book substantially better. Creative Design Of Your Book Front, spine and back cover design for paperback and hardcover books, with or without dust jacket. Front cover for E-Books that will catch the attention of would be readers. Internal design and layout that is clean and compelling and of course printed paperback and hardcover book specifics, i.e.: book size, paper specifications, colour or black and white, font sizes and styles. Distribution Set-Up We work with you to determine the appropriate distribution for your book based on demographics, language, appropriateness of subject matter and pricing/profit requirements. On your behalf we will set-up the necessary accounts with the leading distributors in the business such as Amazon and IngramSpark and all significant others ensuring that your book is available everywhere and every way you want it sold, online, brick and mortar bookstores and in all the formats you require; i.e.: digital, paperback, hardcover and audio. Marketing Strategy Who will want to read your book? What are the target demographics? What are the best and most cost effective ways to make contact with them? With input from you we create and manage your website where new and existing readers can go to make a connection with you and stay up to date with the latest news. What are the price points for your book based on your goals and other books in the same genre? We work with you to create an ever expanding mail list of purchasers, interested individuals and friends and family with whom you want to nurture and grow long term relationships. Book/Author Promotion Social media, advertising, blogger book tours, book reviews, your website and more are all part of the considerations relative to your goals and personality. We work with you to create an affordable and effective promotional campaign tailored to you and your goals.. Analytics What strategies work and don't work for your books' genre, target audience demographic (gender, age etc...), price points/discounting and give-aways, ARCs (advance reader copies). All these considerations will be examined, discussed and acted upon. Advice ISBN registration, we recommend that you apply for the codes, thereby you own and control them. We will guide you. Second, Costs: Eluramance Media Inc. will, on behalf of you/your company, purchase and pay for goods and services directly associated with the production, promotion, distribution, marketing and sales of your book. Third, Payment: Services Now – Pay Later You/your company will repay Eluramance Media Inc. for the costs incurred through the royalties earned from the sales of your book. Payments of the outstanding balance on your account will begin when the royalties earned from the sales of your book begin. A pre-agreed upon percentage of the royalties will be applied, ongoing, until your account is paid in full. Account Maintenance Fees Payment of ongoing costs for maintaining and updating your website, your database of supporters, including changes and additions to your properties (website, book, updates to your distribution channels, on-going promotions, price changes etc.) will begin up to six months after your royalty streams begin and will be charged to you/your company on net 30 day terms. OR Services Now – Pay Now Standard net 30 day terms. The Process Step 1: Send an email to us indicating your interest in our offering and any questions you may have. (the link to send an email is at the end of this section below) Step 2: You will receive an email response with an attached mutual non-disclosure agreement protecting both parties and a questionnaire. When completed and submitted (emailed) to us it will provide Eluramance Media with reference points about you, your manuscript and your goals. Step 3: After we review the requested information we will arrange a web based video call/meeting to discuss our potential business association. If we mutually agree that together we are a good fit we will request a copy of your manuscript to review. Step 4: Upon completion of your book review, we will arrange a web based video call/meeting to discuss your manuscript and our business relationship. If both parties agree to work together Eluramance Media will send you a contract for you and your legal advisor to review. If satisfactory, sign and return. If there are questions please contact us and we will address your concerns/questions. All correspondence and information exchanged between Eluramance Media and you/your company will be kept strictly confidential. It will not be shared or discussed outside of Eluramance Media Inc's personnel or independent contractors. |
